Gall Bladder Polyps - What They Are And How To Treat Them
Gall bladder polyps are a common finding on diagnostic tests in the majority of patients.
Gall bladder polyps are mucosal "protrusions" within it and are always noticed during an ultrasound examination of the upper abdomen or during a biopsy of the gall bladder after cholecystectomy for gallstones.
There are benign and malignant gall bladder polyps. Although the majority are benign, when detected they need diligent investigation and treatment for early diagnosis of gall bladder cancer.
They occur in rates of 4.3-6.9% in people over 45 years of age and more likely in men.
