Hemodynamic Laboratory

The new Hemodynamic Laboratory, as an integral and organic part of the cardiology clinic, is a point of reference for Apollonion Private Hospital. It has been officially commissioned alongside the existing one since February 28, 2022. It is a state-of-the-art specialized digital imaging angiography machine, Philips Azurio 2018, which combined with the medical staff, infrastructure and technical support required by modern interventional cardiology, expects to serve the patients in an optimal way.

The Hemodynamic Laboratory of our hospital performs most Transcatheter aortic valve implantations in our country. It is staffed by specialized medical and nursing staff on 24-hour readiness, as required by the needs of a modern Cardiology Unit. It covers the needs of performing complex diagnostic and interventional procedures in the fields of interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and radiology.

The center offers Diagnostic, Interventional and Therapeutic Services.

DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES

  • Right heart catheterization: measurement of cardiac chamber pressure calculation of cardiac output and vascular resistance;
  • Function control and programming of pacemakers;
  • Electrophysiological studies;
  • Myocardial biopsy;
  • Pericardial puncture for diagnostic reasons.

INTERVENTION AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

  • Primary angioplasty: is the most modern and effective method of treating acute myocardial infarction. The Catheterization Center is staffed by specialized medical and nursing staff, who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to perform primary angioplasty (PCI);
  • Percutaneous coronary angioplasty (PCI);
  • Functional study of coronary arteries with the FFR and iFR methods;
  • Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging of the coronary arteries;
  • Rotablation Atherectomy: modification of the atherosclerotic plaque with a Rotablator system before stent placement;
  • Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI): to treat aortic stenosis in patients not suitable for open heart surgery;
  • Pericardial puncture: to treat cardiac tamponade or significant pericardial effusion;
  • Implantation of permanent cardiac pacemakers (monofocal, bifocal, biventricular – CRT).
