Interventional Radiology
Diagnostic biopsies and punctures are performed anywhere in the body. With this method, a needle is advanced to the point of the lesion with millimeter precision and material is taken by suction for cytological examination (FNA – Fine Needle Aspiration), or a small piece of tissue is removed, which is examined by pathologists (CNB – Core Needle Biopsy).
Also, drainage of abscesses or other pathological collections can be done with the appropriate placement of catheters as well as nephrostomy.
Planning and receiving instructions are essential for performing a biopsy.
