Axial coronary angiography reliably excludes the existence of significant coarctation of the coronary arteries in a percentage greater than 95%, with the result that if the examination does not show significant pathological findings, the imaging control of the coronary arteries can stop here and in this way "unnecessary" catheterizations are avoided. Axial Coronary Angiography also successfully studies the patency of grafts and stents, with a diameter greater than 3 millimeters.
Compared to Classic Coronary Angiography, Axial Coronary Angiography has two important advantages:
- The bloodless factor of the examination;
- The immediate identification and characterization of the quality of atherosclerotic plaques.
Compared to Magnetic Tomography, it excels, as its discriminating ability is many times greater. In addition, the Magnetic Tomography is more difficult and mainly lacks stability in the quality of the result.
The execution of the Axial Coronary Angiography examination, the creation of the images and especially the evaluation of coronary artery stenosis, require considerable experience and the appropriate equipment.
The Polytomous Axial Scanner of Apollonion Private Hospital is equipped with special cardiology programs, which provide high resolution and short data collection time, so as to avoid kinetic parasites.
